NY Trip: Friday

Friday was still hot and muggy outside, and we had a more difficult time getting motivated to do anything big and exciting. Maia did some coloring and playing.
We hung out and relaxed a bit.
Ray went out to lunch with Gino, and I packed up the kids to head to the pediatric office where I used to work to see my friends there. Followed by a late-day nap time.
That afternoon, Ray took Aaron for some more driving practice. While out and about, Aaron complained about the steering wheel being hard to turn, so they pulled into a safe place and Ray checked a few things. Power steering fluid level okay, what about... Oh. Here's the problem. Broken serpentine belt. Yeah, that's not helping!
Ray picked up the part and set about to fix it. Scott had come over to pick up Rachael to head up north for a funeral, and helped, with Aaron holding an umbrella to keep the rain off them both.

While Nana Effie held Parker.

And perhaps Parker was watching too.

But Aunt Tara managed to get some excellent smiles out of him!
And Rachael waited. Bored, perhaps?
Dave and Ray grilled up some burgers for dinner. And had a beer.
On Friday evenings, Tara babysits for two adorable girls who are currently 3 and 4 years old. They arrived in time for dinner, and were scheduled to be picked up around 10 pm. Maia was still napping at this time. She usually naps from 12:30/1:30 - 2:30/3ish. However, our visit to see my friends co-incided with their lunch hour, which was 1-2, so she didn't get down for her nap until 2:30/3. By 5/5:30, she was still so out I couldn't wake her.
Ray was planning his annual Large Gathering at the Rusty Nail with his friends for 7-7:30. So while we were eating dinner, Effie and Tara offered to keep both kids (I had brought two and 1/2 bottles for Parker at their request for just such an opportunity). So after dinner, we kissed the kids goodbye and headed out to The Nail.
Maia had a great time playing with the girls. Inside, they were playing with the refrigerator magnets. Outside they got to burn off a lot of energy!
The girls also enjoyed singing lullabies to Parker. Interestingly, Parker finished his 4 oz bottle that evening, and seemed hungry for more. He downed the additional 2 oz bottle. I confess, that made me a little anxious, since we haven't really established what size bottles he needs. I had anticipated around 3.5 - 4.5 oz for his age and size (although he may need more simply because he doesn't eat during the night and gets all his calories during the day). Taking 6 oz requires different supplies (i.e. bigger bottles), and significantly more than I am pumping. Yikes!
Anyway. All went well, and Nana was able to get Maia down for bed and everything was calm when we returned from The Nail after a nice evening with Dave, Aaron, Gino, Leonard & LJ, Jeff & Tina and their kids, Gabe, Maddie and Liam. Thanks again for the night out, Effie and Tara!
