Parker at 4 months

Whew! Four months already? Man, time is flying! I feel as if my mind and time are both on fast forward. I can hardly keep up!!

Parker has been trying (really hard) to get the whole 'rolling over' thing. He has successfully rolled back to belly and belly to back after some determined trying. However, once he's done it, he's all good, and won't really work to recreate it. And so it will be days before we see it again. Clearly he's strong enough to roll, but it's difficult for me to know if the "problem" (for lack of a better word) is that he doesn't know how he did it so as to recreate it... or if he just doesn't want to do it again. Might be a bit of both.

I definitely spoke too soon about Parker not being able to reach the toys on his exersaucer. The very next time I put him in it, he had it figured out. He got his hands on every toy (mouth on some too) and learned how to spin himself around. He's been doing well in the jumperoo at daycare.

It is absolutely amazing to see how his motor skills are developing so quickly! He is reaching for his feet and desperately trying to get them to his mouth (thighs too pudgy?). He will spit out his paci in favor of his thumb (which he will chew on happily). He frequently gets his paci out, and can sometimes get it back in. When in his swing or exersaucer, he is trying - and succeeding! - in getting the toys to his mouth, or his mouth to the toys. Outside of that, he loves to talk. He is often cooing and gurgling. He occasionally does this quite loudly. He continues to be a content baby, and even with his current cold he is fairly tolerant of me attacking his stuffy nose with a nasal aspirator (or booger sucker, as we call them). He's even been known to smile or laugh during that. Goof.

Our doctor's appointment isn't until next week, and I haven't weighed him lately, but I'm fairly sure he just went through a growth spurt last week. We had more wakeful nights (and by wakeful, I meant he probably got up twice between 9 pm and 6 am, whereas normally it's once in there. Still an incredibly good sleeper!). And I officially retired the last of his 3 month onesies he was barely squeezing into, and some of his 3-6 month clothing. So far, he seems to be running about 2 months ahead on his clothing sizes... not quite a full size up. He does not keep shoes on (even the ones that usually stay on pretty well, like these), so I can't tell you for sure what size he's wearing. Probably size 1.
