NY Trip (Thursday & Friday)

Early October generally brings a visit with Ray's family. This time, we headed out to NY on October 2nd. Traveling with a toddler presents a new set of challenges, but overall, Maia continued to do VERY well! As usual, we set off in the evening to drive about two-thirds of the way, where we stopped at a hotel (this time in Victor, NY) to get some sleep before continuing the drive.
Maia did great on the car ride. First, to get comfy, she does this:

(sorry for the grainy pics... they were taken on my cell phone, while moving!)
When she was awake, sometimes she did this:

When we got to the hotel, however... at 1:40 am, she was awake. Awake, but exhausted... but she couldn't settle herself down.  Not cuddling with Momma, not cuddling with Dadda, not laying on the floor with her blankets.  She wanted to sleep, but needed to explore this strange new place.  And scream. It was a rough night.  For two hours she walked and crawled over us and fussed and cried.  At about 4 am (just about the time Ray was ready to get back in the car and leave) she finally fell asleep on the floor, on a pile of her blankets... and slept for two hours.  So up at six.  We stopped for breakfast at Denny's (Maia split a French Slam with me.  She loves scrambled eggs, and is hit and miss on breakfast meats) and had a snack at a rest stop later in the morning, where Maia chowed down on some fruit.

We arrived in Clifton Park in time for lunch with Grandma at Ruby Tuesday's...

...where Maia scarfed down some mac n' cheese.

After lunch, Ray was done. All that driving on 2 hours of sleep? Not so good. So Ray, Maia and I headed back to Tara's to take a nap.  Oh, heavenly nap!  We were dead to the world... all three of us! After that, we spent a quiet evening hanging out with the family.
