At last, the words we wanted to hear!

While she still isn't using them consistently, we are starting to hear "dada" and "mama" in context, separate from her random babbling.
This morning, she woke around 5:30, cried for a while, and settled herself back down. About 6:15 she cried a little more, and settled back down. Neither of those two events having elicited the response she was looking for, she thought maybe she'd try out that new sound that seemed to cause so much excitement around the house. Within a few moments, we heard a stream of: "Mama............ Mama mama mama mama MAMA." Guess that means I'm getting up with her today.

At daycare, generally, she is off and playing the second she walks through the door of her room. I'm often hard-pressed to get any sort of affection or acknowledgement when I leave her. I'm not complaining, I'm glad she loves it and is happy there. But today? Today I got a "Bye!" and a wave from across the room. Yay!

Over the weekend, Ray had been playing his guitar (much to the delight of Maia, who loves to dance along and bang on the strings). After he was done, he packed it up and laid the guitar case on the couch in the living room, and went out to mow the lawn (again!). Maia and I were playing in the living room, and she walked over to the guitar case (just at her level) and played with the clasps and drummed her hands on the case. "Dada" she said. "Dada ah-dah!" (all done) and walked away.

How long will it be before we are tired of hearing our new names repeated over and over and over? We're loving it for now!
