Week 33

It was our last official Lamaze class this evening, and we're feeling more excited, and better prepared to at least practice on our own. It actually is difficult to learn all you need to know in 6 weeks. Not to mention, we missed one class due to our various injuries. So we're considering popping into a make up class next week. Next on the agenda - visit the pediatrician's office, do some more research into a potential home-based, licensed daycare provider we found (relief!), and finish getting some stuff done around the house. We finally got the valances hung in the baby's room this weekend, and I've mostly washing the newborn to 3 month clothing. Ray is perplexed: "This is so tiny! How do you fold it?" Next we need to move the cradle and the rocking chair to our room, which should make it easier to set up the baby's room. I still need to hang the wall decorations... but it's starting to come together. OB visit this morning was good. Came with a list of labor and delivery questions today, and they were answered to our satisfaction. I feel confident that my OB is planning on being patient enough not to rush us, and therefore help us avoid unwanted and unnecessary interventions that can come because of impatience. So... fingers crossed our baby is born on Monday-Thursday when he takes his own call (he's only on call every 1 in 6 weekends). I'm measuring at 34 cm - still a week ahead (which is still within normal range, but I'm telling her that means she needs to come a week EARLY, or right on time... not LATE!). Heartbeat was in the 140s today.

Healing

Well, Ray is making some progress with his leg - it's now mostly scabbed over, and we've been able to put aside the nightly ritual of neosporin, telfa pads and gauze wraps. He's taking tomorrow night off from softball to play a little golf with his co-workers. First golf game this season (Finally!). I've actually been encouraging him to go since the weather started getting nice, because I'm thinking we'll be pre-occupied come August. Although he has been filling his time with biking, softball and Lamaze classes. Oh, and mowing the lawn all the time after all that rain!

Anyway. I'm making progress too. I've been limping along at work, wearing my extremly attractive Birkenstocks, as they're the only thing that fits both the extra swelling of my foot, and accomodates the air cast. Looking forward to wearing real shoes again. Pain is completely managable, which is good, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed I'll be mostly back to normal by next week (4 to 6 weeks? Bah!)

The ankle is still not pretty:

There's a little size difference between the two of them... but I'm encouraged.

Pregnancy Update:
This is day number 227 and you're 32 weeks pregnant!
You have 53 days or 8 weeks left, and are 81.1% of the way there.
Baby's age since conception is 213 days or 30 weeks.

So Graceful!

Ah, the joys of the hormone relaxin. Things were going just a little too well, huh?

So I'm heading out for sausage biscuits (Ray's fave breakfast for his first Father's Day). I take one step out the door into the garage and twist my ankle on the step (fortunately only one) and fall. I land on my right side thigh/hip. By the time I land I know this is not good. I'm not going to be able to get up without assistance. Fortunately, adrenaline is pumping, so baby starts kicking to let me know she's okay (thanks sweetie!) Didn't hit tummy or anything, so I'm not too worried there.

I can't believe this. I'm such an idiot.

I start knocking on the door to the house to get Ray's attention (he's downstairs watching TV). He assumes I've just locked myself out, but by the 2nd time I knocked, he hurries a little more. He helps me up, gets me inside and we put me in the recliner with my ankle up (I can't put weight on it) and we take a look at it. There is a huge goose egg on the ankle just to the side of the bone and it's already turning black and blue.

This is later in the afternoon after some icing.

So we get in the car and head to ER. I did have to get an x-ray, which makes me a little nervous about baby (despite the lead cover they lay on you which went from my knees to my chest) so I'm trying not to google it.

Anyway - it's a bad sprain. They gave me crutches (which I'm horrible at) but I've given up on those already and didn't bring them to work today. I did, however, wake up SORE in places I didn't realize were involved.

So between that, and Ray's "Play at the Plate" slide last week Wednesday, we are kind of a mess. We went through a lot of telfa pads, neosporin and gauze!

Oh, and with two months left to go... I'm already officially huge!

Growing...

I seem to have popped out a few more inches over the last week. Baby seems to be growing so quickly, she's in my ribs on one side, and poking my pelvis on the other. Movements aren't so much with the kicking as they used to be, more the constant pressure that feels like an internal bruise. However, she was pretty active the other night, and you could easily see her kicks poking out my belly. Ray was on the phone with Jeff, and I had try to get his attention so he could see. When he did, the expression on his face was priceless. He thought he'd be freaked out by it, but the raised eyebrows, and open mouthed grin belied his excitement. I'll try to take an updated belly pic soon.

Ah, Spring

Ray spent most of the weekend exercizing in one way or another, and we took a bike ride together today from Millenium Park in Grandville. It didn't take long for me to figure out my physical abilities are not what they were. While it wasn't difficult for my legs, and my balance was actually fine... the leg motion caused baby to squoosh up into my ribs, and it soon became uncomfortable and more difficult to breathe. So we made it about 2/3 of the way we usually do. But we came home and I realized that I needed a nap! So nap I did, while Ray went out for another bike ride with my dad on the White Pine Trail north of town.

I'm so excited, our peonies started blooming, so I picked a few and put them in a vase. They smell fantastic!

The irises started blooming earlier this week.
