6 Months

Maia had her six month physical on February 19th. She got 4 shots and handled them well. She's settled into her groove with her growth pattern. Average weight, slightly above average length, and a big noggin (thanks to daddy). And after an early morning diaper blowout, I decided it was just as easy to take her into the shower with me and get her cleaned up. She was intrigued. Afterward, she cuddled up in her towel.

First Food

She's so good natured! She had her first solid food, and enjoyed the faces mommy was making at her... She tolerated her rice cereal... ...but she was NOT loving it!

Push Ups

So less than a week later from the rocking... we've got military style push-ups (which I can't even do!) She's still continuing to do what she has been for several weeks now: scootching backward, and turning circles by reaching to her side. She is definitely on the move, and can get several feet away from where she started in a very short period of time. But we're adding on new skills: And wait for the end of this one... Sorry about the annoying infomercial in the background! And may I just say that I cannot believe that she is 6 months old today?! She is halfway through her first year of life! I am stunned how quickly it has passed.

Rockin'

So the little bit of rocking on hands and knees we were seeing... She's really starting to get the hang of that now!

Weekend Photoshoot

We've been so busy (and tired!) we haven't spent much time just taking pics. So I took a little time today to get some. So here we are... just shy of 6 months.

Moving... but backwards and to the side!

Here are a couple of vids. I never think to take videos until she's been on her tummy for too long, and she's about done. She's really not this whiney all the time. But the succession of videos shows you how far she's moving... generally backward or to the side. She LOVES to do this kicking thing. Her little legs are going like this most of the time. Sitting, reclining, being carried... kick kick kick. She has, however, recently started to get up on her hands and knees and rock back and forth a few times lately. She's also taken a few lunges forward. However... with this child, this seems to be NO predictor whatsoever of how soon it will be until she gets herself crawling. She'll start to figure something out, and then not do it again for months. So. We'll see. I should probably start baby-proofing the house soon anyway, though!

Superbowl Sunday

So we had a small super bowl party last Sunday with my folks, sister Kathleen, Bro-in-law Andrew, Andrew's sister Sarah, and her friend Dave. Maia had managed to scratch her face really well this day. But she enjoyed watching the game nonetheless. She enjoys chewing on and licking cold beverages. This is just after she let go. And a couple random sleepy pics. She's doing better sleeping through the night again... but really likes to cuddle up with mom and dad.
